Staff

We at Faith are very blessed to benefit from the skills of our very dedicated and talented staff.

Darrell Partin, Director of Worship & Music
darrell@flcva.org
(571) 274-7780

About: I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of music ministry here at Faith Lutheran, including leading rehearsals for the choir and praise to team and selecting music for the worship services. I am a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and came to the Washington, D.C., area when I won a position with one of the military bands.

What I Like Most About Working at Faith: The people! And, of course, the opportunity to share and collaborate in the music, my favorite thing to do in the world.

When I’m Not at Faith, I am: Working with the Navy Band here in D.C.

Jen Moore, Communications Coordinator & Office Administrator

(703) 525-9283

About: I am a native Northern Virgnian, who, despite offers to live in exotic locations like Minnesota, has settled in Alexandria with my husband, Noah, and our menagerie of cats, lizards, fish and a bird (please – no “Ark” jokes). Our nephew Josh joined the brood in 2010. I will be working with Faith to develop more effective communication and manage the church office.

What I Like Most About Working at Faith: The people here are very welcoming, open and caring.

When I’m Not at Faith, I: am actively involved in my own congregation, Good Shepherd Lutheran, where I sing in the choir and mysteriously become involved in a wide variety of unrelated activities. In my “free time” I sell Pampered Chef products, which is really just an excuse to socialize and try new recipes. I also enjoy cooking, baking, cake decorating, mischief- and music-making, nature, uncontrollable laughter and its many causes, and spending time with friends and family. Unconfirmed sources claim that I have a good sense of humor.

Kirsten Holtz, Faith Lutheran Preschool Director
preschool@flcva.org
(703) 525-1375

About: As Director of Faith Lutheran Preschool, I am responsible for program planning and evaluation; hiring, directing and supervising staff; providing in-service staff development and education; maintaining student and personnel records; securing proper maintenance of the school to ensure compliance with Virginia and Arlington County codes and regulations; actively involving parents in the program; and representing the preschool in the community. I am a native of Northern Virginia. Prior to working at Faith I worked at a division of the Alternative House, teaching young mothers and their children. My formal training is in special education.

What I Like Most About Working at Faith:  I am surrounded with caring and dedicated professionals

When I’m Not at Faith, I: spend my time taking care of my two school age sons. Our days are full of sports practices, homework and music lessons. Sometimes I get a quiet moment and that is when I escape into a book, indulge my artistic side or catch up with friends.

Juan Ulloa, Church Caretaker

About: As Faith’s Caretaker, I help maintain the facility, including cleaning, minor repair and other tasks as needed. I am originally from El Salvador and I came here because I had friends in the area. I was approved for a green card (permanent resident status) in March 2009 and received the card in August 2010.

What I Like Most About Working at Faith: The people at Faith and the job.

When I’m Not at Faith, I: Enjoy watching my baby (born March 2010).
