About me: I was born and raised in Maddock, North Dakota. I went to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, where I majored in philosophy and religion. I attended seminary at Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago and earned my Master’s Degree in Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry at Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. My wife, Mary, and I have two grown children, Brian and Jessica, who are the joy of our lives. In my role as Senior Pastor at Faith, my primary role is listening to members, visitors and to God, and to create ministry and programs that respond to what I am hearing.

I felt called to the ministry when: during my high school years, I worked each summer as a Bible Camp counselor in North Dakota, Minnesota and California. People kept telling me they thought I had the gifts for ministry and they encouraged me to pursue ordained ministry.

The thing that I most enjoy about Faith Lutheran Church is: the excitement and commitment people have to Christ, and the desire to reach out in compassion to others.

I see God at work among us when: a first-time visitor feels warmth and welcome here.

My favorite things to do in my spare time: watch sports, play golf, listen to music, read, e-mail, travel, eat out, talk to friends on the phone.

Every morning I start my day by: exercising, drinking coffee, reading the paper, praying and wishing my kids would call.

I knew God was present in my life when: a church in Arlington, Virginia, went to Phoenix, Arizona, to find a senior pastor.

Favorite Bible verse: Psalm 121

Something interesting about me that would surprise people: I collect baseball cards and sports autographs.
