Faith supports Arlington and the broader community through service and financial assistance, and through our Mission of the Month program.  Here is an overview of some of the social ministries at Faith:

Arlington Street People’s Assistance Network (A-SPAN)
A-SPAN is strongly supported by Faith’s service and generous giving via the Emergency Winter Shelter.  This shelter provides a safe location where the homeless can be out of the winter weather, find a bed to sleep on, and have a meal to eat.  Faith historically volunteers its time on the 3rd Tuesday of every month between November and March.  In addition, Faith provides bagged meals to approximately 60 homeless clients of A-SPAN each month as part of the Homeless Bagged Meal Program.  In addition to meals, Faith provides personal care items, socks and donated sweatshirts/sweaters.

Fannie Mae Homeless Walk-a-Thon
Faith Lutheran Preschool families participate in an annual walk for the homeless.  The donation ultimately supports A-SPAN’s needs.  This year, Faith will host a Mini-Walk on November 6, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Please join us!

Doorways
Faith supports Doorways for Women and Families throughout the year.

Angel Tree Program
Each Advent season, members are invited to participate in Faith’s Angel Tree program, which supports several local charities including A-SPAN, Doorways and Offender Aid Restoration.

Save the Children
In memory of Brian Rowe, Faith Lutheran’s former music director, Faith gave a donation to this organization whose mission is to support the basic needs of children around the world be it food, emergency assistance, or education.  Faith remembers Brian’s giving spirit, his service to our church and community, and his talents.

Good News Prison Ministry
Faith supports Good News Prison Ministry including supporting the work of several church volunteers who work with inmates on a regular basis.

Arlington Food Assistance Center
Faith provides canned goods and nonperishable foods to Arlington Food Assistance Center.
